Feel guilty when they take time off work or don't do voluntary overtime? I planned on taking tomorrow off (after skipping lunches and such) but my boss suddenly offered overtime to the whole office. I don't want to go into work (I'd earn like $100) but I feel really guilty about not going in to make some money.

No, like, being able to get free time is my main criterion in getting a job (more so even than wage).

Not at all. I rework my schedule so I can take advantage of all of the vacation days they give me. I have to work 40 hours in a week minimum so I will work extra hours or whatever in order to be able to leave early.

Will that money make or break you? I try always have enough leeway room. Plus at my full time job, I don't get paid for overtime, so I try not to work extra hours.

Hell no.

Having a job is great, but so is a long needed break meant for relaxing and recharging.

Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with working overtime, as long as it were something you were already wanting to do (spouse's b-day coming up and you want to make extra money to get them an awesome gift, for instance). I just don't think it's worth sacrificing plans you already made for yourself.

Yes. I even feel guilty for taking off when I'm sick.

Better you stay home than risk getting the office sick.

Same. I feel like if I'm not dying I should go to work.

Not really. I mean, sure, I feel a little bad that the other people are going to be stuck doing the work, and I'll be out a few extra bucks, but I do have a life outside of work. I have to tend to that once in awhile too.

Plus, while I don't mind taking overtime occasionally, I don't want them to think I'm available ALL the time, and start getting pissy and petty (You know, doing the whole "I'm cutting your hours then, so nyeah!" thing) when I say I can't do it.
