I gotta ask, because I've been hearing it a lot on various groups and I want an answer from sane people, is it true the black actress is a transwoman? LIke I say, been hearing it a lot from certain places but a deafening silence from the rest of the web one way or another, so y/n? Not an objection if she is or isn't, just curiosity.

I looked her up and didn't find anything about her being a Transwoman.

I think it's just a case of "Oh, she's tall and not traditionally feminine, so she must have been born a man!" which is a common thought process of certain parts of the Internet.

So, roundabout misogyny then.

Those people are so disgusting because they try to fit everyone in a neat little box when the world does not work that way.

This is why I can't stand fandom's (tumblr) trans headcanons. If the female character doesn't fit a standard box of feminity, she's obvious a transwoman. If the male character doesn't fit a standard box of masculinity, he's obviously a transman.

It's super sexist.

Like, sure, you can headcanon Makoto as a transwoman, but you're doing it based on her being tall and liking to kick ass. Why not headcanon Minako or Rei as trans? With Rei, it may explain why she doesn't like men much. With Minako, it'll break the dumbass molds.

Stop treating "trans" (or gay, lesbian, what have you) as a character type, full stop.

These aren't character types any more than having brown hair is a character type. Someone isn't trans or gay or what have you because they don't like a certain thing or because it breaks a mold. They just are.

I mean I get what you're trying to do! But that's the wrong way to go about it unless it actually serves some kind of plot (and then that's limited). Why can't people just be a way because they are?

I hc Makoto as trans because she got kicked out of school for fighting, and when she was transferred they didn't have a uniform that fit her on hand.

Well if they asked on tumblr it is quite possible that the only answers they would get would be 'YES!!!' and 'Asking that is super transphobic, uwu'. So yeah fandom-wise f!s is one of the saner places.

(I say this as someone who likes tumblr. and yeah I am aware that it is possible to find saner places on tumblr as well. but the main tags sometimes are... not pretty.)

Nope, Leslie Jones is just a 48 year old, six foot tall, big boned, biological woman.

Nah, she is cis. She probably cannot use the ladies bathrooms in a lot of Red States though, but being black she was probably already expecting some hassle there anyway.

The actress is pretty funny on SNL though she always plays the same character.

Huh is this a thing? I rarely watch SNL but everything I've seen Leslie Jones in is hilarious so I trust that this character will be great. A good movie is more than a collection of two sentence character descriptions. It could be a bad movie of course, but we don't know that yet...

Holtzman is awesome. Holtzman deserves a better movie!

Kate McKinnon is real life awesome and I think I'm gonna love her as Holtzman, but damn, I want her in a better movie.

That part was written for Melissa McCarthy (who then decided to take a different role), so the accusations of racism are kind of weird. Also, Leslie Jones is great, I want to see her in more things!
