I too am glad to have Amara in the show, for various reasons, I believe you listed most of them.

I'm also glad Dean's "romantic" interest is in fact the evil/"badness" they're always trying to get rid of, that she's a strong woman, and that she's not some young thing (even though I am). And this evil...well, it doesn't seem entirely evil, or it's a more subtle evil than we're used to seeing on the show.

Where do the consent issues lie for Dean? I can't remember, but did she bring him back? There was that whole scene early on in the season where the darkness surrounds him but...that is also something interesting to think about/handle in fic/meta.

Also, I have much love for Billie the Reaper. She has no sympathy for the Winchesters. I bet she's been waiting for that gig since the first (probably the second time) they evaded the permanent sleep of death.

I found it really depressing too. I get the idea that "immortality sucks" but a lot of that is being off-cycle with almost everyone else in society. If all your friends and town were immortal too, would it be so bad? Would you really regret it if you had friends and family to spend all eternity with ?

I write a lot of non-con, torture, and dark fic. I mostly do it because I find it interesting to explore really fucked up things, with specific characters. I have fun with the psychology and the consequences of it. This is not the secret. The secret is that a number of people have come forward to tell me that my fic has helped them through past trauma or to understand the mentality of their abusers. I'm terrified witless. What if a dark ending screws someone up? I'm not a therapist! What if my portrayal of it screws someone up? I don't always have characters make healthy decisions (though I try to portray it's not really a good thing, even if it works out), what if someone takes it as a cue to do something unhealthy or unsafe? FUCK.

Shipping it and liking the positive attention don't always go together. If you can enjoy the one and ship the other (bc attractive people!), maybe you won't have to feel weird about it?

It's pretty common for young people to get crushes on older people. So it's not unrealistic for you to find the younger/older dynamic interesting.

We're not allowed to have kinks any more. It is a strictly hurt/comfort cuddle world where icky sex is off the table (instead of on the table, the fridge, the sepulchre, and any other surface you can reach) and if there is sex it is strictly oral or maybe missionary at best.

Anything which does not meet the Mark Oshira "problematic" criteria is totally verboten and will actually result in doxing, swatting, and maybe even rape threats so we all know how liking problematic fictional things make you worse than Satan himself.

People can have different interpretations and that's okay, OP. Nothing to get bent out of shape for. I liked Clara. I thought she was a bit of a control freak and, while I didn't read her as suicidal post Danny, I did think she was being extra reckless. I'm curious, are you saying her relationship with Danny was abusive? How so? Their relationship wasn't well done IMO and Danny seemed to exist just to give Clara something to angst about, but it didn't read as abusive to me. Clara and the Doctor did love each other, but with Twelve, I thought it was more platonic than romantic.
