College

So I thought I was going to graduate May 2017, but my advisor screwed up, and I won't be graduating until December 2017. I have no money and no job prospects, and I just generally feel bummed and anxious.

How is college going for you? Do you like your school? Hate it? Do you have one of those rare, wonderful teachers? How much longer do you have until graduation?

I just need someone to comiserate with!

Ugh, I had to do an extra semester because one of my profs lied to me, basically. I there was a course I needed to graduate that was only run once a year when I happened to be doing an internship, and he told me it couldn't be substituted for anything else.

Lo and behold, a few months from graduation, one of the department admins was like o_O why did you do another semester we totally would have let you substitute or even challenge it.

Look at it tbis way: the later date means you have more time to line up work.

How many credits/classes did they miscalculate on? If it's something like an extra elective or two, sometimes you can take classes at a CC for the summer semester and transfer them in. There's some word for it but a lot of times universities have agreements with other schools in the area to let their students attend there while still being enrolled and get credit.

I'm actually standing in line to get my AS right now. Well, in a waiting Hall. I still need three more credits for a cybersecurity degree

I already graduated, but I'm completing some post bacc classes...which will hopefully mean that I will get into graduate school/whatever other degree programs I'm pursuing...

I love to study+learn, but I kind of want to be done already and work as a professional. But I'll probably want to go back to school as soon as I'm a professional.

On that note, the FINALS APPROACH...good luck to all with final exams/papers/projects/thesis/etc...

I graduated a few years ago, but my advisor messed up my paperwork and I ended up graduating in summer instead of spring. I liked nearly all my professors, my school was good, and I met a lot of great people. My advisor just sucked.

I'm supposed to be graduating next saturday, but I'm kind of worried about a class I'm taking right now. It's NOT going towards my major and it's not a general education requirement, but I'm almost guaranteed a D because I stopped going to class and missed two larger assignments.

1. I felt I could learn more independently instead of in lecture, since the prof used the "I'm too lazy to teach so instead I'm going to put people into groups to teach themsel-- uh, I mean 'discuss the topic'" method of teaching (unlike classes that would benefit from group discussions, this class made no sense to break into groups)
2. I felt the classes that were worth more (400+ level) were more important than this one (200) and had to blow off these assignments to get the other classes' assignments done.

I'm going to have to go in to the final to try to help my grade a bit, but I know the prof will probably say something. I've already had nightmares about this scenario, one of them ending in me not being able to graduate. Aside from this class, I normally average A's, B's, and C's (C's mostly from more difficult classes, ex. programming, law study, etc.)

I also have no idea what I'm going to do after college, because I hate the degree I'm getting but I'm too poor to change it/go back to school. Only reason I went through with it is because it was the only thing I could afford at the time.

I went to community college with the intention of transferring to state college. I got my associate's degree, but never transferred. It took too long to get the associate's degree, and I didn't have a good GPA and I'm not sure if I could afford to go and I don't even know what I'd want to study. But I do feel kind of like a failure.

I was in college for five years plus one summer class and I absolutely hated it, almost the entire time. So even though I'm not still there I'll commiserate. It was an immense relief to be done and I am still every day glad I'm not still there.

Do you have any place to go after you graduate, or do you need to move out on your own right away?
