It's you. Check the suggestions thread.

Nah. Nice try though.

Never have to admit to being wrong if you refuse to look at the truth. A safe tactic, I suppose.

More like two different IP addresses doesn't confirm nor deny the truth of someone being the same anon, given that I'd assume anyone on here would know how to use a VPN.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-10 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know why you'd assume that. It's not like it takes any tech skill beyond google-searching, saving an image and using MS paint to make a secret or any interest beyond a fandom to make comments. And I have no idea how to determine reputable VPN stuff from harmful and as such have even less of a clue how to use it.

Mostly because of the age of commenters? Most of us are 25+ and grew up on lj. Which means almost all of us know how to write basic html, pirate movies and music, and protect our privacy online.

It's possible that some people don't, but the majority of our specific "internet generation" probably has the most general knowledge in this area of any generation.

It's a safe assumption that you're not a kid though, given that you're still hanging out here with the fandom olds.

I'm not a kid, I don't pirate, I spent a lot of time on LJ, and my html skill is pretty limited to the bold, italics, bullet, link and simple tables. As for privacy, I just...don't put my information out there? It's worked so far.

Not even touching the rest of any of this, but, uh, what's a VPN?

[personal profile] herpymcderp 2016-05-10 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
It's essentially a client you can download that takes your IP address and lets you "route" it through a different state or country, so cookies and trackers and whatnot recognize it as ...say... a USA-based IP.

It's what a lot of people in Asian countries use to get around state-mandated internet censoring, and also what some people here use to access USA-only content.

Oh, neat! I've never heard of those before; are they the same as a proxy?

[personal profile] herpymcderp 2016-05-10 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Not quite the same, but along the same lines. A proxy doesn't allow you to assign a permanent IP address, unlike a VPN.
