While this is not a bad secret, I really would advise against using drop shadows on that size of font. It's hard to read.

TIme-period appropriate is a pretty wide range, if you ask me. Male names really haven't gone through a ton of changes. And you could broaden your pool farther on the assumption that at least one name has etymological meaning they liked versus the straightforward "We named you FOR somebody," which I think Steve might worry about that putting undo pressure on a kid -- not only to have to live up to the reputation of his parents but also his namesake.
