To be fair to them (not that I really want to be, at least not to the one with the "weak men" comment), starting an argument with "sorry" seems to be pretty popular right now.

In general, the current trend in arguing seems to be to belittle your opponent by pretending their opinion actually harms them, and fake-pitying them(see: "it must suck to be so afraid of [whataver]," and "it must be exhausting to be offended by everything every minute of the day" because they had one negative opinion).

Yep. This is why I always roll my eyes when people start going on about "recognizing syntax!"
