I'm sorry the majority of women enjoy maledom fantasies. Sucks to be you and most of the other women on this community, I guess.

If there's one thing I've learned from the video game community, it's that the folks involved in publishing and marketing content often have no clue whatsoever what their fans actually want. Fifty Shades is big, so people who publish and market content think readers want Fifty Shades ripoffs. If something with a subby guy gets big, ripoffs of that will start showing up.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-09 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh-huh. Me and the millions of other submissive women in the world will suddenly enjoy femdom. NOT.
feotakahari: (Default)

[personal profile] feotakahari 2016-05-09 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
No, but men, women, and other-gendered folks who enjoy femdom will buy it. It's not a small group, just an under-serviced one.

You seem...weirdly threatened that there exist women who are not subs, and who would like to see their own kink represented sometimes. Take a deep breath yo, if "the majority of women" are really subs then your preference ain't going anywhere. It won't kill you or anyone else if other people also get to see their kink once in a while. And no one said you had to be a switch anyway.

Nah, but what makes you assume there's not millions of women who like it in reverse? It's not the same target audience, doesn't mean there isn't one.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-09 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not big on male or female dom fantasies (or RL) but I don't get why the existence of something would mean you'd be forced to enjoy it? (Well, maybe you'd enjoy the forced part, depends on whether you're into lifestyle or only bedroom stuff.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-09 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
LMAO nobody is saying that you have to like femdom or that you even need to read it. Go get some fresh air, nonnie.

Your loss, you boring gutless hag.

[personal profile] herpymcderp 2016-05-09 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Not sure this is strictly true, actually. I've never seen any formal study that indicates that the majority of women interested in d/s stuff are interested in males as doms specifically, rather than any of the other possible iterations.

Until that actually happens, who knows? Maybe women into d/s stuff are actually more likely to be into switch roles or femdom.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-09 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
No, don't you know EVERY woman likes to be dominated?? The ones who say they don't, just don't know what they want. They need a strong, dominant man to show them!

[personal profile] herpymcderp 2016-05-09 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Imho it's every man that secretly wants to be dominated. They just need a strong, dominant woman (or man) to show them.

I mean

It's hardly proven, but I think it's really, really unlikely

(Anonymous) 2016-05-09 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it's worth thinking about why that is, though. Like, are those womens' fantasies influenced by existing media and the culture at large? Before anyone jumps on me, I'm not trying to say maledom is inherently bad or sexist but...I'm just gonna trail off because I can't think of a good way to finish this sentence...

Unnecessarily bitchy response. The OP wasn't insulting women who like maledom, just saying they aren't into it and want more femdom. There's nothing wrong with that.

Oh, just wait. This is FS. Someone on this thread will.

Are you that butthurt 50SoG stan who really likes the word "ravishment"?

(Anonymous) 2016-05-09 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I hate 50SoG. But I do like the word ravishment and all it entails.

got sources on that, or do you just ~know~?

By the way, most men also have fantasies about being dominated. maybe people in general just want to be ravished sexually.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-09 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I'm going by the popularity of maledom erotica.

I agree that most people in general probably have submissive fantasies.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-10 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
I don't. Yuck.

Whooooa, for me, being dommed and being ravished are TOOOOTALLY different things.

What is even the point of this overly hostile comment? The secret acknowledges that maledom is more popular, that's kinda the whole point. And where are you getting that the majority of women on F!S like femdom? Some do but there are a lot of female subs/those who prefer subby women in fiction here.

DA

(Anonymous) 2016-05-10 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
This is just my personal impression, but F!S, like a lot of fandom spaces, tends to reject mainstream gender roles, and I think a preference for femdom is a part of that. I mean, if we were all down with dominant men, we wouldn't be reading slash fanfiction, we'd be off reading Harlequins. That's my personal theory, anyway. I do see fandom in many ways as offering alternative romance fiction for those who don't like the mainstream romance novel norm (hetersexual maledom, largely).

I say this as someone who is DESPERATE to find romance novels with non-stereotypical gender roles. They are few and far between...
