(Anonymous) 2016-05-10 01:07 am (UTC)(link)This just sounds really petty and stupid. "This just in! Fangirls fetishize gay sex and gay characters sooooo much that they'll make up characters on the spot just so they can imagine two cocks dueling!"
Awesome. I can tell you're really proud of that.
We're talking about a comic full of existential imagery and the main characters are a young girl and a man with an old TV set for a head. Come on. Not to mention there is already canon lesbians (a pair of ballerina slippers and ribbons with a knife for a head and a bunch of musical instruments given sentience), so it's pretty obvious it's the slash fangirls that need their gay male fix like it's a drug. RGB's only canon hints at romance at all are with Madras, and it's very ambiguous what their actual relationship entails (or entailed), and whether it's just business for her (and him), or if there was ever something there.
Side note: Secret OP I agree with everything you've said. I've found myself checking it out less and less as she updates it at a glacial pace only for every new page to move incrementally. I came into the fandom late so I had a great backlog which made the story seem to flow quicker, but now it's like watching paint dry. I still enjoy the comic, but I'm finding myself enjoying it less and less. The fandom isn't exactly helping either. I have a confession, it took me like a week to finally figure out how the hell Magnus was and why he was showing up in like every third fanart.

And that's, like, ridiculous. Stop being stupid and correct your sexuality post-haste.
That'll stop 'em.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-10 01:41 am (UTC)(link)Lmfao. I guess we can't restrain our "carnal instincts" long enough to enjoy a webcomic without having to make up fan-created peens to smash against the main male character?
You sound absolutely ridiculous. Congratulations on being part of the section of fandom who can't enjoy anything, even gen stuff, unless there's a whiff of cock on cock?
So cool. So brave.

But thank you for noticing me, senpai.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-10 02:19 am (UTC)(link)"*Eyetwitch* You know this story is really cool, I love it--*eyetwitch* IT NEED MORE GAY SEX! PENIS! PENIS RUBBING PENIS! PENIS GOING INTO ASSHOLE! BLOWJOBS!--and the attention to detail in world building really fascinates me in particular. *Eyetwitch*"
*Shrug* I like slash just fine, but I do absolutely think there's something...off with people who do this. When you can't enjoy something gen on it's own merits I start to wonder why someone doesn't just move on to something that has what they're looking for. The Property of Hate is never going to be Epic Gay TV Head Love Story unless the author does a huge 180, so why try and force that? It's so out in left field from the tone of the series itself.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-10 04:16 am (UTC)(link)also you keep repeating how the series isn't about romance... -most- fandoms with shipping aren't romance based canons. this is hardly new.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-10 07:49 am (UTC)(link)I wanted to make clear that despite not being about romance this series already has diverse, interesting characters (recently there has been a genderfluid character introduced that has quite an interesting dynamic with RGB as well), there's no need to make up Random Whitecock Prismhead Man.
Most fandoms with shipping at least don't need to literally make up a fan character to get their slash kicks. I feel like that's being deliberately obtuse, because you know there's a big difference between bromantic buddies and something like this. Shipping doesn't come out of thin air--usually. Shows have two male characters who are close, buddies, or have something intense about their relationship that draws shippers in.
This series? No. Not at all. It's not the kind of series one gets into if they're in the need for some dick on dick, it's very much a gen story that deals with complex themes and symbolism set to a backdrop of some almost Dahli-esque dreamscapes.
