I get that some people like it, great, but there's so much shoved into (haha) things that don't require it sometimes. Like, it's not enough to have two people fall in love anymore, you have to throw in some BDSM "lite" because that's what's selling, folks!! That's what everyone's into, and if they're not they're "vanilla."

A least in published fiction it's usually labelled so I can avoid it.

What do you consider BDSM 'lite'? I read a lot of fanfic (in many fandoms) but have not seen an uptick in BDSM or an over prevalence.

Well I mostly read original fiction these days. But you know, things like there's no hint of anything and then they start during the sex scene doing "sexy" things like spanking or handcuffs or being rough and just...you didn't discuss it first, this is just something "everybody likes" now. -_- I read a great story that was amazing but really went off the deep end during sex times, IMO. Puppy collaring or something like that, thrown into a historical fantasy, didn't really seem to fit... IDK, I'm just ranting because I'm so tired of it being jammed into my stories. (I mostly read gay romance if that helps.)

Same here. Personally, I'm not really into BDSM, but I feel like a lot of explicit fics are fairly vanilla. Like, I've definitely seen some fandoms where a lot of the people are extremely kinky, but this doesn't seem to be a widespread thing.

No, but only because I'm really into BDSM. I like it a lot. But I do think it is often written with pairings where it doesn't work. But then again, I tend to gravitate towards pairings where I think power dynamics work. I'm not sure why, but I just really love BDSM. I'll read it in any form, though I certainly have my favorite ways it is written and favorite kinks.

Even if you're not into vanilla stuff, BDSM isn't the only sort of kink that exists and it annoys me when people pretend otherwise.

I have...literally never had this problem, so I don't know what you're talking about. I don't like BDSM either, but I feel like most explicit fanfics I read involve vanilla sex.

No...but there's just a lot of shitty quality bdsm out there, in all genres.

Naw I really like bondage and kinky porn, so I'm disappointed when someone's not tied up. I admit I cringe at BDSM played out with actual characters and plot though (in most cases), I'd rather just see it in a PWP.

Yes, in a way. I'm tired of the current trend in fic where BDSM power dynamics seem like the only alternative to "sickening fluffy shmoop". There are other ways to add complexity to a relationship, you know! Jeez.

Also, if I never read --[Male Character growling at Female Character after kissing her ~punishingly~]: "Mine."-- ever again, I will rejoice.

It's really hard to find pegging that isn't femdom or bi porn that isn't cuck.

pornography tends to become more extreme as time goes on, it's how anal went from taboo and kinky to mainstream vanilla porn, even expected of women irl. plus authors want to hop on the bandwagon and profit.

Ennnnnh? Like, certain kinks, yes. I'm picky and it's a very thin line between "yes please" and "HELL NO" for me. But a lot of stuff I've found doesn't scratch the itch, or vanilla stuff scratches it in ways I don't expect. So my mileage HIGHLY varies.
