I just wonder how much money something like Pacific Rim cost. I can't believe Mountains of Madness would be too greatly over that.

190 million according to Wikipedia, which is a lot. Not as much as some recent big special effects movies, but in comparison Pacific Rim didn't do as well as, say, the Marvel movies. Maybe that's why. :(
