Re: Men who won't wear condoms

As long as you've both been tested and are using alternative forms of birth control if you don't want to get pregnant, go for it.

(Also gotta love all of the people in this thread who seem to forget that there are lots of BC methods aside from condoms that are equally or even more effective)

I don't think it's an issue of forgetting. You yourself say "as long as you've both been tested". Not all people get tested before jumping into a sexual relationship (especially in the case of a one night stand, etc.).

As far as I know, condoms are the best method of preventing STIs.

Pregnancy is not the only possible side effect of unprotected sex.

As far as I know Diaphragms are just as effective as condoms.

They're not. They only prevent cervical infections, not other STIs. The reason condoms are effective is that unless they're defective or used improperly, they prevent any transfer of sexual fluids at all. A diaphragm just prevents anything from contacting or passing through the cervix, the entire rest of the vagina is vulnerable.

This. Especially the parenthetical. I much prefer diaphragms. For some reason, they feel a lot better to me than condoms. Yes, it means I'm the one responsible for both that an my BC pills, but I'm fine with that.
