If you could choose how the president was chosen, how would you do it?

Be as ridiculous or serious as you want.

One vote per person. No superdelegates, no corporate donors.

This. I'd also register everyone eligible to vote and wouldn't put in all these ridiculous restrictions. And I'd have election day a federal holiday so everyone who wanted to could vote.

+1 This sounds good to me.

So I assume you're against the Sanders campaigns' plan to contest the nomination at the convention, even if they're being in planned delegates, and campaign for the superdelegates to throw the nomination to Sanders?

I don't mind one person one vote, as long as I am the person and I have the vote. It is giving votes to all these other dumbasses that worry me.

This. And I think private donations to campaigns should be limited, whether it's from a corporation or an individual.

I'll add onto this one, since you brought up a point I wasn't going to (superdelegates), but I would also change the selection system from plurality to majority runoff. You must have more than 50% of the votes to win. If nobody gets 50%, you pick the two with the most votes and do a runoff. Would it be more of a hassle? Yes. But I see this as the best way to break out of the two-party system we're locked into right now. In a plurality system, a vote for a third party is a waste. In a runoff system people won't be so afraid to vote for third parties and they'll get more support.

An alternative for Congress (tangential to the OP now) would be a system where each party is represented proportional to the overall votes it has - doesn't the UK do something like this? While that's not directly relevant to the presidential election, it might help the overall political system which influences how the President functions as well as how candidates for the Presidency are chosen.

Voters in states vote using approval voting - IE, you get a ballot and you put a vote next to every candidate that you like. Those vote totals are then used to calculate a preference ranking for each state, and the Electoral College elects the president using the Baldwin method.

This seems to me to be the best way to maintain the electoral college (which I think is generally good) while also allowing people the freedom to vote for third parties. I'm not 100% sold on approval voting but I feel like it's the quickest and simplest way to get to the point where you need to go.

whom ever kills the president first in hand to hand combat; if a tie, then who ever kills the other in hand to hand combat; if the president beat both in the first round, he/she stays.

All of the primaries happen at once, in all states. None of this prolonged campaigning bullshit. Then the election itself is a popular vote. Get rid of the electoral college.

Abolish the electoral college and go national vote or a proportional system.

Every four years, a vote is taken for the next psychic octopus who will select the President based upon its gut feeling. The octopus campaigns are the same as the current ones for Presidents.
