I'm actually curious since where I live people CAN'T get caught pirating for privacy laws etc: what are the punishments there in the USA?
And... do you actually have people who don't pirate NOTHING all their life?! Here's is just unthinkable lmao

Fines can get pretty steep. And in my 30plus years of life, I've pirated maybe 5 songs all when I was in high school.

I don't pirate anything I can buy or rent. If I like a show or music, why wouldn't I want to support the creator so that they can make more?

Do you have any idea how USA high statutory damages on pirating are? Anon's family could be bankrupted.

Agreed. It's one thing to pirate if you can't legally get something where you live. In that case, go for it, because it's not like you're able to pay for it. I once ended up pirating a music single because it was digital-only and it was not available on the US iTunes or Amazon. I WANTED to pay for it, but there was no way I was able to do so. I actually hate the fact that I had to pirate it because it was my favorite band and I really wanted to support them.

But if you can easily go out and buy it? Yeah, you deserve whatever you get.
