Enlighten me then. You have a link to something that gives an different explanation as to why we, as humans, evolved to act and react the way we do?

What exactly are you trying to say? You said blame evolution, but the anon was likely going to defend Hawking (Because if you have such a problem with Hawking's face you can always just listen to the videos but hide the browser, not hard). However, you make it sound like he looks the way he does because of evolution. Unless you mean the evolution of his disability, you should probably be clearer.

As for the reaction? That doesn't make sense either. People react that way because of bigotry or because the appearance of his face just causes discomfort due to asymmetry (lots of people demonize people who have imperfect bodies. Why do you think TV shows demonize the hell out of people missing limbs or women with uneven breasts).

I'm not talking about looks, I'm talking about the reaction people have to said looks and how people are claiming it's bigotry to have that reaction, when we can't help that reaction no more than the handicapped person can help being handicapped.

Humans are hardwired to see certain things a certain way, like faces for instance since we're on the topic of looks. If anything deviates from what your brain is programmed to recognize as "normal", people tend to get uncomfortable or scared. It's not bigotry/phobia to have that reaction. It falls into bigotry/phobia when people CONTINUE acting uncomfortable or even start demonizing said handicapped person like you said, long after the instinctive reaction went away.
