Hey, they already know how disgusting I am with my diaper fetish and little girl-cosplay by the time they would be giving me the interview. They'd obviously still want me otherwise they wouldn't be interviewing, so I'm okay even if I do disgust the interviewer on a personal level. As long as I don't ask her to spank me hard during the interview then I'm okay.

They pretty much don't care, as long as it's not child porn/serious real guro or bestiality (and it's almost less even the legality, more the fact it's blackmail material).

If they are prepared to interview you know that you are a juvenile goatfucker then they are prepared to hire you as long as you cop to it. If they interview you then then they need you, and since they know in advance, it means they really need you. Just cop to it man and ask whether you are paid monthly or quarterly.

How do they expect me to remember all the shit I've seen online? I could talk about a couple of outlandish things, but I don't know. Nothing illegal anyways, so it doesn't matter what I like.

I don't know if I'm too innocent for this question but what explanation would be required for porn? It was hot so you watched it? Isn't it simple? Don't people have a clear line between porn and reality? I don't get it.

I dunno. Do i *not* get clearance because i've looked at pet-play fic? Because i've read gang-bang fic? If they say 'no' because of that, i guess i'm screwed. If they just want me to acknowledge it all, well...kinda embarrassing to have my kinks laid out but - oh well? They're just kinks/fantasies/porn. Not the end of the world.

I think I could make it through all right, I'm good at selling that kind of thing. Certainly, I have the good explanation that I was a teenager for most of the really scurrilous stuff. And... I mean, it's embarrassing, but the depth of the embarrassment doesn't change much, you know?

I think the majority of it is just dumb.
I mean sure, there's some weird shit in there, some underage and non-con (thanks SPN kink meme) but they'd have to look pretty closely. I don't think reading a lot of stupid sexual fanfic makes me look like a security risk or potential criminal, so I'd be fine. Presumably the woman who does this job has seen plenty of dumb shit. None of it can be connected to me by anything but IP Address either.

There is absolutely no scenario in which this would occur where my familiarity with different kinds of porn and a huge range of fetishes wouldn't actually be looked on favorably.

In this situation I'm imagining I've applied to be an intelligence officer and I'm getting an assignment where I have to look through deep web boards for people suspected of running illegal porn rings or something. Basically, my porn interests wind up saving the day.

So freaking screwed.

I don't think I've ever looked at anything technically illegal, but my porn tastes admittedly leans towards being pretty fucked up and I definitely would not like to explain all of them to someone in charge of my career (honestly, I'm not even sure how to explain some of them...especially all the omegaverse stuff). On the other hand though, she's probably still heard a lot worse from people.

Honestly I think the weirdest part would be the reminder of all the smut fic I've read and forgotten.

Security clearances are about 1) determining that you are who you say you are, 2) making sure any ties you have outside the country are benign, 3) finding out about anything illegal you might have done, and 4) finding anything in your background that might make you susceptible to blackmail. So, if you're so embarrassed by whatever you've viewed/done that you could be blackmailed into treason by it, only then are you screwed. If watching porn/reading erotica on the internet was in any way a stumbling block to a high security clearance, there would only be a few people left (and most of those ones would be the type who still get magazines and/or videos).

I don't even understand how this would even come up unless they've confiscated your computer for whatever weird reason and found your dirty, dirty internet history before you could erase it.
