Not necessarily what you're talking about, but I just can't read APH fics (that aren't specifically human AUs) that refer to characters as non-canon names. Especially when they're popular fanon names. We all know we're here to read about personified countries fucking, damn it! We don't have to skirt around the issue!

It's only annoying when it's Japanese ones like "Su-san" or "Doitsu" or whatever because these are grown-ass white guys. But it's like even real names make Hetalia fans mad too. Saying things like "Artie" or "Al" seems to violently piss people in this fandom off, even though those are the real short forms of those names! It's like they can't even listen to "You Can Call Me Al" without being hardcore triggered.
