I joined a dating site this weekend. It's been ages since I've even had a date and my work doesn't exactly put me in much contact with men of a certain age. And the dating site thing's worked for a couple of my aunties. I'm trying it paid for one month and we'll see what happens.

Yeah, it feels a bit weird, especially when you recognize some of the local guys. So far I've found my doctor, one of my first cousins, the dude who fixed my internet a few weeks ago, a guy I went through school with (and from what his ex wife has told me, I'll be avoiding him) and a guy I had a crush on in Grade 12, we shared a couple classes and sat together--he'still cute, though I'd feel a bit weird contacting him thru the site. Yes, I live in a small town!

It was an interesting evening for sure.

Heh, thanks. Site I'm using doesn't allow nudity and each pic is supposedly reviewed before it is posted, so that will hopefully cut down on dick pics at least. Nothing ya can do about bad pick up lines, though. Other than laugh and/or cringe... I'll probably laugh.

I'm too old to buy that line. I'm also side-eyeing anyone who says they're "separated" and will probably avoid them, it's just not worth it if they're still connected to someone else. Even if a divorce is pending...

I've been thinking about doing this for a while but it sounds like so much damn work to get to the point where you can actually meet people in person, plus I have basically zero pictures of me and everyone I know is such a shitty photographer.

Its work whether you're on line or in meat space. My work really doesn't have a lot of men for me to meet, either as clients or fellow employees, and I'm not a bar/club type, so I think/hope this'll work for me.

As for pics, don't worry, most of the guys seem to do selfies. Not sure about the women, as bisexual isn't an option on this site. Not that I'd use it if it were. Even more creeps than just being female. All my pics are ones I took, either with my tablet or my laptop cam.

But in meat space, you've already met, and anything that's going to be immediately apparent to you in-person (but not online) will already be apparent to you before dating even comes up and not something you get to be surprised by later after putting in a bunch of time chatting online and trying to arrange a chance to meet (not that there can't still be surprises, but you eliminated at least some already).
