I get this. I recently read a fic for one of my fav pairings. It was labeled the pairing, nothing to indicate they weren't end game. There was flirting, growing closeness, touching and some hurt/comfort mixed in. Then the one char expressed his growing feelings for the other...and the other char was all 'Sorry I'm straight' and they agreed to stay friends. Needless to say I hit the backbutton and didn't check out any of the author's other works.

Yeah, I'd be pretty annoyed by that. Sometimes I enjoy reading unrequited love fics for the angst factor but it's shitty to actually use the pairing tag without giving any indication that it's not actually a relationship fic
