Someone posted a short essay about being a nice fan and tolerating others in fandom even if Your Kink Is Not My Kink And That Is Ok and has been getting abused and bullied by the self appointed tumblr morality police.

OK, not really.

That said, if the kink is something like rope play or fire play, this would seem excessive and mean to fans of that kink. But if it's something like Wincest or mind control--and I don't see any other SPN secrets today, so I guess this is it--I could totally understand doing a fic where it's a horrible thing.

Honestly, I would probably really appreciate and respect this author for going out of their way to write the fic you're describing. But even so, they definitely should NOT be tagging it as containing a particular kink, unless they include additional tags which clarify that the kink is basically subverted in the fic. Fanfic bait and switches are super annoying and, IMO, pretty rude.

I wish I knew what the kink was.

For the kink, I know it's a weird one. I like when for magic or tech reasons characters undergo transformations to either switch sexes or end up functionally hermaphroditic, which leads to them exploring their new biology by themselves or with a partner. There were some SGA fics I think, and sometimes that crops up with Loki in Marvel fic, but it's not very common.

For the fic, this isn't the fandom or characters, but lets say it's Harry Potter. Harry gets hit with a spell that accidentally gives him both a dick and a vagina. And Draco his boyfriend comforts him, they start making out, and then Harry is shocked and disgusted by his vagina and shoves Draco away. Because he's a cis guy, and guys have penises and no guy could ever enjoy having a vagina and he's having really bad dysphoria about having a vagina. So he and Draco have to go find the right counterspell to fix him because there's no way he could even think of having sex with a vagina.

Then the author's notes were scolding people that fic with magical transformation like that are transphobic, because in reality there's no way anyone could enjoy something like that.

I get this. I recently read a fic for one of my fav pairings. It was labeled the pairing, nothing to indicate they weren't end game. There was flirting, growing closeness, touching and some hurt/comfort mixed in. Then the one char expressed his growing feelings for the other...and the other char was all 'Sorry I'm straight' and they agreed to stay friends. Needless to say I hit the backbutton and didn't check out any of the author's other works.

This does sound needlessly unkind.

(I do find it odd that the one thing that F!S seems to agree about all the time, no matter who's commenting, is that every kink is above criticism and it's shocking that anyone would think otherwise. Whereas almost any other topic will bring on comment wars to the death, no matter how seemingly innocuous!)

But it was definitely wrong to use the tags to trick you that way to just express how gross they find it...
