tangentally related

My confession is that by the time I was in junior high, I was so terrified of missing school because of getting behind that I went to school sick all the time - nothing short of vomiting coud keep me away - and I probably caused a lot of absences by giving people the flu, but I'm not sorry and I'd do it the same if I had it to do over again.

(Before you ask why my parents didn't intervene, remember that at upper grade levels US schools start at stupid-o-clock in the morning and I was usually out the door to catch the bus before my early-rising dad was out of the shower. My parents had no idea.)

What is stupid-o-clock? Not from the US but my high school started at 7:36am and ended at 2:36pm.
