This might be a stupid question, but do you interact IRL with anyone who has a disability?

OP

Yes, I do. My friend's brother is severely disabled, you can't communicate with him at all and all he does is lie at his table and... do this twitching, moaning thing. It creeps the hell out of me, but I don't let him nor her know it - I know it'd be a horrible thing to do.

Any chance this particular person is influencing your view of disability in general? This is certainly not the case for all disabled people.

That's very much possible, yes. :(

That's pathetic. Really. Beyond sad. Feeling very sorry for both your friend and his brother for having you in their life. Hey, as long as we're "being honest!" :/

What's his disability? It sounds like he has a severe form of it. A lot of disabled people are regular people who just tick a little differently.

I can understand why this might be painful to watch, but you have to know that "disabled" spans a really wide range of conditions. Someone who has a bad hip and needs to walk with a cane isn't severely malfunctioning", they're just someone who has a bad hip and needs a cane.

Your brother sounds like...he has a neurological disorder? How do you feel about physically but not mentally disabled people?

Whoops, I meant /friend's/ brother.

See, Op, people like you are why the anti-sjw movement (and even just the anti-social justice movement) has a lot of momentum. It's because people who claim to be "pro-social justice" or force diversity in their writing are just massive hypocrites.

Then you think you're so cute and mature because you want to hang your head in shame and go "yeah, bad person, right?" You really should be ashamed and consider a serious analysis of your own character. You're just as bad if not worse than the people who get angry at slurs but then use ones that don't apply to them to other people (aka cishet uses "fag" but is extremely anti-homophobia).

And wow. What a shame all the other people are just going "oh, well if it's a mental disability then that's okay!" or speaking with a tone that implies as long as you don't hate the physically disabled then it's okay. (Also, why are people asking if she's talking just about mentally disabled people when she included a pic of a wheelchair? Pretty sure she's all-inclusive on her disability hatred).

Honestly, the only advice for you is to get over yourself and stop making excuses like you're some cute girl with flaws. Either work on them or don't reveal your true personality. If you're going to be a liberal infatuated with tokenism and forced diversity then you better own up to it. Praying that karma catches up to you in the worst way or that someday you will overcome your hatred.
