Re: Stupid or silly things you believed

If I saw an elderly woman walking around or going to the store by herself or only in the company of other elderly women, I thought she had never married or had kids and was very sad. (For the record, I may not yet be elderly, but now I know I don't want kids and I'm perfectly okay not being married, but I didn't know that then.) It never occured to me that just because you had a spouse and kids, it didn't mean you were all joined at the hip all the time (it's not like my parents practiced attachment parenting or never did things without each other, but I was a little kid, so naturally I assumed my parents's world evolved around me) and it didn't occur to me that if you were elderly, your kids woukd be grown up.
