Interesting. At the malls here, the employees go out a separate entrance in the back of the store, not the one that's closed with the gate. All the stores on the same side have back entrances that open up on this one long corridor that leads to one of several (one on each wing) main back entrances, and the employees come and go by them.

Oh, yeah, we have those, too, at our mall. But sometimes going out through the gate was just quicker for some people, depending on how close the store was to the main doors of the mall/the parking lot.

But yeah, another option that should've occurred to me when I was younger, and yet...:p.
