NAYRT

I applaud your passion and dedication to the man's music, but I think that same passion clouds your ability to be objective about why people dislike him.

This is needlessly patronizing. In fact your entire comment is pretty patronizing. Oh, honey indeed. Pray tell why do people dislike Phil Collins then? Because I've also seen the vitriolic hate train and have never really seen a reason for it. The man seems to be even tempered, he's never been in the news for, oh I don't know, smacking around his wife or for statutory rape (and yet people still lick those star's boots clean). Your comment makes it sound as if he deserves said hate.

OP might feel passionate about his music, but that in no way makes them not objective. Did it ever occur to anybody that a musician getting popular in a way that a)going by another comment half the original fanbase didn't like, and b)known for making "cheesy pop songs" could just be the perfect storm for which every incident that OP mentioned only stirred the pot even more? I remember when Tarzan came out and there was a ton of Phil Collins jokes directly related to Tarzan and his songs.

I agree. I found that to be utterly patronising as well. Just responding to your comments without stating why he's so 'hated'. I agree, he's never been in trouble for the things that stars get away with, and are still worshipped, and yet he's the hated one?

I really like Phil Collins too, OP.

Haha wow, I guess everyone had their 'stans, even Phil Collins.
