Considering the fact that it blew up on Twitter, sold out hundreds of "Make Donald Drumpf again" hats within minutes on HBO, and created a massive slogan that has spread to people who don't even know who Jon Oliver is that is still being used to this day...yeah. It totally did have an effect. Just because it didn't bring down the orange god of idiocy like he's some statue of Hussein doesn't mean it had "no effect."
