There are some great fics out there where he is torn between is family and Roy. They range from Roy friendship to Roy romance and everything in between.

(Personally I prefer the hardcore friendship ones dealing with Roy's issue and building up his friendship base but I won't turn down a romance. Although I do tend to stay away from the explicitly cheating type ones. )

Check out the LJ comm FMA_OT4. Has any permutation of Maes/Roy/Gracia/Riza. As I recall, there were a lot of Maes/Roy fic, including Boys in Blue which was pretty amazing.

Not on hand but I'll try to remember to go through my old ffnet folders tonight and share them with you. I read damn near everything and was a teenager, can't promise they stand up to time XD

There were probably poly options! I feel like it wasn't so common in fanfic circles back then? Or perhaps I wasn't interested in it so didn't read. But I am all aboard the poly train
