Doctor Who fandom.

It did always used to be fairly fractious and burn people out, but that was incidental and people at least tried not to be assholes deliberately. They just were by accident. Current Who fandom is using the previous rep of being argumentative and divided as a justification to be deliberately as abusive as possible. It fucking sucks.

Ranma 1/2 fandom disappointed me towards its end too. The srs biznis guys took over, treating what was a comedic farce show as if it were a serious grimdark drama. Yes, I do know that if it occurred in the "Real World" everyone would be a flaming asshole and a mental wreck, if not an outright criminal, but the whole point was that it wasn't and all those assholes were funny because the bits everyone in-universe took seriously were totally different to what we would take seriously. That was the joke.
