For me, kissing itself is not a turn-on, if you think too hard about it, it feels awkward, and the smacking sound is grating to me. But it's more like what you do with the rest of your bodies when you are making out. Touching, petting, rubbing hands down backs, grinding... that's the hot part.

I feel the same way. Sometimes I think that a lot of people kiss because they think that's just one of those things that you do when you're in a relationship with someone (I used to do that until I was like "Man, what am I doing? I don't even like this")

Weirdly I like to see people kiss(like in TV/movies, I don't perv on people kissing irl) and I like kissing in fic too, but it does absolutely nothing for me irl and at best I find it a bit disgusting.

I apparently prefer the idea of it rather than the reality?

That's how I am too. I quite like the way kissing looks when people on screen do it, but it's just...kind of gross irl. At first I thought that I was just doing it wrong (or that the people I was kissing were doing it wrong) but after way more trial and error than was probably necessary, I realized that I just hate kissing...especially if it involves tongue, ugh. Still hot on tv though.

Omg tongue kissing is just eugh for me, I don't like it, I don't get how it's supposed to feel nice(THERE'S A SLIMY THING IN MY MOUTH). But on TV it's fucking hot and I'm just like ?? at myself.

That can be quite nice. Somewhere between being petted like a cat and a bit more, um, stimulating. It's just when the other party tries to take things further it's a huge turn-off for me.
