Why everything in fandom has to be 'important' these days. So many posts start with that word and everyone is so, so earnest about how important everything is and they've got checklists for all the important things that need to be talked about/improved upon/that they've thought of and you have agree with it because it's so very, very important.

I don't get it either. Going along with that, I don't get why someone's favorite thing has to be unique either. The very first movie to show something or the only one to tackle a theme. I've seen a lot of arguing over this (e.g. "Frozen was the first Disney movie to showcase sisterly love instead of romantic love") but I don't think the first matters that much if there's no second or third to follow it up. Those follow-ups matter too, so I don't see why it's such an insult to say that something is part of a small but growing group rather than all by itself on a pedestal.
