Why fans of Certain Popular Shows insist that all their friends must watch them and be as obsessed as they are. And even if you give it a few episodes and still don't like it, they'll tell you you aren't being fair and you need to watch more. No number of episodes will be high enough until you agree with them it's the greatest thing since coffee in self-heating cans.

Sooo much this. A friend and I have this thing where every few months we get together and watch a bunch of the 1st episodes of things we've gotten into lately but that the other hasn't, and it's fun because there's no obligation for either of us to watch past that so it's more of a game and a catch up on what we've each been doing than pressuring each other into anything.

Well, I can understand pushing friends and loved ones to get into something you love, popular or no, because then it's something you can all share and totally bond over.

It is annoying to be pressured like that (and I've been on both sides), but it can be a sucky feeling when you're talking about some new thing that nobody seems to give a shit about, or worse, your friends hate like the burning.

I've been in that position, too. But rather than be That Annoying Friend Who Refuses To Shut the Fuck Up, I just keep my fangirling to myself and lurk on forums for the thing I like.

I grew up with religious proselytizing at home. I refuse to deal with it in my happy fun internet time.

My friend is sooooo sure I'll love "Once Upon A Time" if I just give it a chance. Said "chance" has expanded as I've continued to fail to get into it.

On the one hand, I got into Supernatural because a (different) friend wanted me to give it a second chance and watch it with her. On the other hand, by the first couple of episodes in, I'd started giving a crap about Sam and Dean, while I've continued to feel like OUAT is crap.

the more people push me to watch things the more I end up resenting those things and hating them more than I otherwise would have. see: every single fucking Marvel film

Word. The only Marvel films I've decided to pick up were the Captain America series. And that's only because I haven't run into all that much hype about them in the corners of the internet I frequent. Everything else? Fuck that noise. I haven't given a shit about comics since the mid 90s, and I doubt that'll be changing anytime soon.

way too many of my friends will not stfu about Game of Thrones and omg what's wrong with me why won't I be just as obsessive as them. It's just not my thing, all right?
