I hate it when people write out accents. It usually ends up looking messy and takes longer to figure out what the character is trying to say than it takes to read the entire story.

I don't mind a dropped "G" (like tryin' or workin'), an "Ah" instead of "I", or even a "Z" or "D" instead of a "Th" but anything past that gives me a headache.

Oh man, as someone from the South, the 'ah' instead of 'I' drives me CRAZY.

I can handle phonetically transcribed accents better in comics than prose, for some reason. Some writers can pull it off... but it's HARD.

If that makes you mad then please, don't ever read the AAVE version of The Great Gatsby (yes, it's a real publication http://www.thebookpatch.com/BookStore/da-great-gatsby/a68639e1-824e-4d49-9257-f1de61cca5f6). It'll make someone like you tear your eyes out.

That book doesn't bother me as much as you thought it would.
