Everyone is correct here. I'm black so I do see myself in the media often. However, I rarely see black geeky people on TV. I'd like to see that without the character being another Urkel (ugh) or having to maintain some sort of "street cred" UGH.

I'm almost more focused on seeing other cultures and ethnicities represented. Why do you only see Native Americans in SF and westerns? I want to see an Indian character on a show that isn't set in Indian Country and doesn't rely on them being a spiritual whatever. And that character or characters can't be white people who are 1/16 some tribe no one's ever heard of. I'm want red actors.

This. I'm Asian, and there are some Asian roles I'd like to see, too:

* Chinese people who are "normal", i.e. not math geniuses or martial arts masters, they just want to go home, take off their pants and watch Netflix while eating mac and cheese
* confident Asian women who aren't sexualized Oriental Femme Fatales
* athletic bro Asians (they totally exist)
* Asian males who aren't portrayed as emasculated dudes who are never as manly or popular with women as white guys are
* More acknowledgement that there are Indians, Pakistanis, Vietnamese, Laotian, Thai, Cambodian, Indonesian, Malaysian, etc. flavors of Asian as well, not just Japanese, Chinese and Korean.
* let us play the cool friend once in a while, you guys! Not just the bespectacled dorky sidekick.

wasn't Harold from Harold and Kumar the cool friend?
