Ok whites

If a black person created something and you want to know if it's ok to quote it? ask yourself, is there a good chance you will receive more praise for quoting it than the original creator will ever receive? Ask your self if there is any reason to believe that the creator will be ok with giving you this material? Ask yourself if you would be a welcome part of their life or career?

It's no. Realise that and just dont.

Or you could go with option B and not give a fuck if anyone thinks it's OK.

Try again when you're not so racist.

Did you copy-paste this from a blog? Because it sounds kind of like a post I saw a black beauty blogger make after she got really mad someone quoted and cited one of her posts without her permission.

Or is someone else arguing this now?

I'd hope that Beyonce and Sir Mix-A-Lot would have better things to do with their time than care about if someone on the internet quotes their song lyrics.

Also, you'd think if Sir Mix-A-Lot was so worried about "the whites" destroying his music he wouldn't let white people cover his music.

Do you also think that all black people are the stereotypical "Angry Black Man/Woman"?

http://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/sir-mix-a-lot-defends-blake-livelys-oakland-booty-post-w207162

“I don’t think she’d wear that dress if she thought that booty is horrible — and to me, it ain’t horrible,” the hip-hop entertainer told the New York Daily News on Thursday, May 19. “I don’t get it at all. She’s saying she’s proud of her butt. I’m glad she embraced the look, because that’s what I wanted (with the song).”

He continued, “All I would say to the critics is let’s better understand the context of what she said. If [what she’s] saying is, ‘I have this butt that Mix-a-Lot was talking about in ‘Baby Got Back,’’ that’s a good thing. She’s saying I’ve embraced this ideal of beautiful. However, if what she’s saying is, ‘I cannot believe I got this fat, this is horrible,’ then I agree with the critics.”

“I’m glad she didn’t pull it down,” he said. “I don’t think she should.”

Hah, I was coming here to post this. +1. And if it's okay with Sir Mix-a-Lot, then everyone else can just stand down. I presume OP of this post already has.

I don't agree with this.

I'm pretty sure Sir-Mix-Alot will be better known for that lyric than Blake Lively. It's not like she took it from some obscure song by some obscure artist nobody has heard of.

If she does become better known for it, it'll be because of everyone remembering this controversy, which was started by people who were afraid she'd become better known for it. I love the irony.

So apparently you don't think black people can be scientists or academics.

Please, please be white. That's the only way I can excuse this.

White people, especially white liberals who mean well, don't listen to Rad!Black Anon. Respect our culture, enjoy our culture, embrace our culture, share our culture. Yes, I said share. Don't let this cool above scare you away. Our culture is our gifts to ourselves, our children, and to the world. LOVE BLACKNESS.

How about a white person quoting a black person and giving full credit to said black person?

Comments like this make me cringe so hard. People who are exposed to a culture tend to adopt things from that culture. That's just what happens. The only way to stop it is to prevent Black stuff from becoming popular at all. I'm not gonna lie, sometimes I wonder if sentiments like this aren't stealth racists trying to accomplish just that.
