The Force Awakens!

Finally got around to watching TFA. Even though I'd been spoiled on most of the important plot elements, it was a fun, enjoyable movie. I can't decide if Finn or Rey is my favorite character, which surprises me a little cause I actually kind of expected Kylo Ren to be my favorite. Not that I dislike Kylo, he's interesting and I look forward to seeing what is done with him in future movies. I don't have a set opinion on him yet.

Only thing that annoyed me is I thought Captain Phasma would be more involved! >:( There aren't enough badass female villains.

So, who is your favorite TFA character? Is there anything you hope to see in Episode VIII or IX?

Rey is my favorite TFA character, followed by Kylo and Hux and then Finn. At least for the new ones. Leia is always a top Star Wars character for me. I adore her.

Phasma is Darth Maul 2.0, heavily advertised and featured in merchandise but in the actual film barely does anything

She's more like Boba Fett, I think. Where we're told how awesome they are but never see it.

Maul at least had a kick-ass fight.

I love Rey so much.

I'm really curious to see more of Hux and Phasma, to see if we'll get a bit more developed villains. And yes, I agree that I thought Phasma would be more involved, but then again, I felt like the movie had so much to cover to try and squeeze everyone in.

Hux was my favorite but he probably doesn't really count as a character, so Kylo Ren was my fave.

My only hope is that Hux survives 8. I doubt he'll survive the whole thing but it would be nice to see him in 9 too.

I'm really torn about Kylo. On the one hand, I like a good redemption arc and I think he's beautifully set up for one (plus, you have characters like Leia, who I would feel so bad for if she loses all she's lost and can't get her son back). But, on the other hand, it would be nice to see him embrace his evil and subvert expectations. I also kind of hope he survives but feel like he's likely to die in 9.

The other thing I want is for them to explore Finn's psychology a bit more. He's got such an interesting and unique back-story but there was no weight to it in TFA. I'd like to see him deal with some negative perspectives he holds from being raised in the First Order, and also deal with losing all his friends. It just didn't feel like he was connected emotionally with the other Stormtroopers in a way that I felt he would be after living with them for decades. So, either show that or show why he doesn't feel like that. That's what I need to really like him.

Also, Luke as a badass.

My favorite character is BB-8.

I want to see Kylo get more backstory that explains his actions, and then redeem himself. Then I want to watch the wankstorm on Tumblr.

Rey and Finn are my faves and like you I can't figure out which one I like more, they're both very appealing characters to me so I love them both pretty equally.

Phasma was a bit of a let down for me too, with how they were pushing her I thought she was going to do way more than she did. Her outfit looked awesome at any rate though.

I'm interested to see where all the characters go tbh, I'm pretty neutral on Kylo but seeing how his story unfolds will be interesting. And I ofc want to see what happens with both Rey and Finn, how Rey fares in becoming a Jedi, how Finn recovers after getting lightsabered in the back.

I want to knooooow.

I love Finn and Rey both, I guess Rey is my favorite by a small margin. I agree there should have been more Captain Phasma! I also liked older!Han and older!Leia a lot, and BB8 was the cutest.

I didn't hate Kylo Ren, but I guess I don't love him as much as some people do. He's an adequate villain. I think his obsession with Vader is interesting, as well as his choice to actively embrace the dark side and reject the light, which I think is more cut-and-dry than Anakin's choice, ironically. I don't know if the narrative will treat his choices that way, though, which I think will disappoint me.
