You have to do a lot to both of them to make them palatable. Tofu seems like a one-note thing, but the texture is different if it's silken, medium, or firm... and that's even before fried vs. baked vs. pressed vs. smoked vs. sprouted... etc.

It can be very meaty and pleasing if it's prepared and seasoned correctly, but yeah. Takes a lot of trial and error and experimentation to make a pleasing experience out of a largely plant-based diet.

I only had it as bland cafeteria food so I guess I'm missing out. I try not to avoid things now. If it's served, I try it. I'm actually finding I like a lot of things I would have just said 'ew' to before. I regret spending most of my childhood eating spaghetti ohs and peanut butter.

Yeah, if you want to try tofu again, definitely definitely eat it at an Asian restaurant where they have half a chance of knowing what they're doing with it.

It's one of those foods that's just horrid unless you know how to prepare it, at which point it can become very nice.

That's how I feel when people tell me they don't like brussel sprouts. Definitely will try it next time I'm out to eat, thanks for the recommendation!
