I really like some of the artists that came off Idol :/ though the show itself went to shit badly before it ended.

It went to shit largely because of the absence of Simon Cowell, imo, and his critique was always one of the better things about it.

Oh, I'm not saying some legit artists weren't created or passing through. (Daughtry was decent enough anyway. Kelly Clarkson eventually had a couple of good songs, and Carrie Underwood was okay) But every time you turned around, there was some artificial voice trying to do crazy gymnastics as though that were the point of music and nothing else. You don't. need. to insert. fifty notes. into every word. of a song. every single time. Ugh.

And to be honest, most of the stuff AI initially produced as singles for their contestants came off as cheesy or hollow. Kelly Clarkson's first single sounded like it would have been better as a Disney theme, Clay Aiken's debut single was creepy. And I forget who sang "8th World Wonder" and "Tattoo" but I wasn't terribly impressed by those either. I don't even remember the rest, but I didn't care for it being all over the radio.

But to each their own.

Honestly, those aren't even the post-AI artists I care about (though I did really like Clay Aiken once but he's more meh to me now). David Cook is probably my favorite Idol contestant and definitely my favorite Idol winner. I'm also definitely a fan of Alison Iraheta, and I enjoy music by others including Haley Reinhart and Adam Lambert. (probably some I'm forgetting too)

I used to loooooove Clay Aiken back in the day, lmao. David Cook is my ultimate Idol fave; I love him so much, and he is so great live. :')
