Re: What media did you instantly regret spending money on?
It's just that I end up buying lots of stuff and since i have tons of storage space it's all in storage now.
I just keep all the Funkos in their boxes so they take up a bit of space too.
Re: What media did you instantly regret spending money on?
My rule is usually not to impulse buy. As in, I try not to get things that are right now new and shiny, or for a fandom I only just got into - I wait a bit, and see if a year down the line I'm still interested. That's how I got my fancy expensive figure of Edward Elric. Even though I'm not in the fandom anymore, I have no regrets.
Re: What media did you instantly regret spending money on?
I love BJD, at least the way they look! I'd be so terrified about painting because I don't have a steady hand at all.
I try to do the same thing as far as waiting, will I love this fandom later? Which helped lately, but uh I had a few anime posters that are random and I'll probably end up tossing. Granted my main fandom collectibles are Wizard of Oz, Harry Potter, Star Wars, and Doctor Who and I got in to them at least 10 years ago.
My favorite collectible? My Harry Potter books, I have them in 19 languages from places I've visited. My one coworker knows this and he's gotten me 3 languages too. (sorry this got long, I love collecting things)
Re: What media did you instantly regret spending money on?
The thing with Funkos is that they all look sort of samey to me? I just can't get wanting more than one. (not judging! that's just my very subjective opinion, and clearly lots of people love them).
Ha, I also have a few wallscrolls sitting around gathering dust. One is from Bleach (which now I cringe at). My Weiss Kreuz poster is still up on my door, though, and I don't regret that one.
Re: What media did you instantly regret spending money on?
Oh I totally get you on the Funkos. Then I started collecting the Hallmark itty bittys, basically the Funkos except plush because there aren't that many new Wizard of Oz toys.
OMG BLEACH WALL SCROLL! That is exactly one of the things I'm looking to get rid of when I move. It's just rolled up in a corner now.
Re: What media did you instantly regret spending money on?
atm I'm considering getting something FFVII, but then, since I'm building a cosplay and Cloud's sword, I'll probably just hang that up on my wall when I'm done and call it my collectible.
The Hallmark itty bittys are pretty freaking cute. Maybe I like them better than the Funkos because they're plush? idk. Also their shapes are more rounded and less square.
Re: What media did you instantly regret spending money on?
The itty bittys are sooooo cute. I have tons of them too because I keep buying them on sale. I got the Han Solo frozen in carbonite and Darth Vader on sale, then I had to buy the Princess Leia/Han Solo set because they're discontinuing it.
Last Christmas they did a special charity sale with these Christmas themed Star Wars ones. They're definitely more rounded than Funkos and are less in your face everywhere, obviously.
Cloud's sword would probably look great on a wall!
Re: What media did you instantly regret spending money on?
I do have a small collection of Levis of various sizes - mostly gashapons. They are very tiny and adorable. My favorite is probably the supremely unimpressed Levi sitting on top of Mt. Fuji.
At home I used to have my medieval weapons nailed to the wall above my bed - it'll be nice to have a new sword to hang in my room!
Re: What media did you instantly regret spending money on?
I miss gashapons, I had so many random ones that have gotten lost over the years.
The medieval weapons sound amazing.
Re: What media did you instantly regret spending money on?
Among my weapons are a crossbow, a morningstar flail, and a battleaxe. I am very pleased with them, even though none are actually battle worthy.
