In Germany, there have been a lot of (very US-influenced) attempts at crying cultural appropriation at all kinds of things, some more sensible that others (like criticising kinda racist carnival costumes on the one hand to calling something blackface when it isn't blackface on the other etc.) - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Especially not when it's carnival season.
