Because if you don't want to have sex every day, you must be ace, right? Heck, depression killed my sex drive and I can't even imagine what living through a YA distopian future would do to it.

A shitty, dangerous, and very taxing life taking precedent over your sex drive =/= asexual. Despite what romantic comedies tell you, a lot of people don't react to stress by increasing their sex drive but rather the opposite.

+1

Katniss throughout the books is a traumatized teenager who barely manages to deal with the fuckd up things she's forced to experience. I find it very easy to see how romance might not be her top priority. If a depression caused by less lethal things already kills any sex-drive how must things have felt to her?

I don't really enjoy Katniss much as a character, but as an asexual, I do appreciate this headcanon a lot. Please do not devalue us that see this.

You can have whatever headcanon you want about her. I don't have a problem with different interpretations.

I only have a problem with the overly vocal part of people who treat their headcanon as canon and call everyone who disagrees with them "acephobic" etc. Not saying that you're doing this. But unfortanately there are so many people nowadays who can't accept interpretations different from theirs and try to silence opposite opinions by accusing them as some kind of -ism. (Again, not saying that you're doing this.)

No-one was doing that in the thread except for you.

Yeah, this. I haven't even seen or read The Hunger Games but I know a lot of people headcanon her this way (at least I feel like I've read about it multiple times) and I'm all for more characters that can be interpreted as asexual even if it's not canon.

This.

The "sexual people must think in and want sex all day" thing is one of the most infuriating and inaccurate ideas out there.

Explains a lot of the frantic a/demi/sapio sexual labeling going on if you ask me. Most people would realise they are in fact well within the range of 'normal' if they didn't go around absorbing all those myths.
