Black men are more likely to go to prison in the US than any other group.

But yeah, who cares?

Re: Interesting secret thread

There's a little trick for them to avoid that B^)

That's just naive.

Remind me of the history of koreans here.

Re: Interesting secret thread

(Anonymous) 2016-05-21 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
And because of that their families, the women the have in their lives, their mothers sisters and girlfriends daughters don't have them to provide for them, and because black women are paid the lest in our society when we employ them at all they NEED their men to not be in prison so they don't STARVE. TO. DEATH.

Black men in prison are fed and sheltered and protected. their families are not.

They're protected from the people who beat them, rape them, and kill them at an unbelievable rate.

Have you considered dating non black non hispanic men sister :)

Re: Interesting secret thread

(Anonymous) 2016-05-21 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
No, they aren't. Because black men are not the only people who rape black women. White men do it as a much greater rate and are much MUCH less likely to go to prison for it.

shit that doesn't happen.jpg

more black women rape black women then white men do

check the fbi stats

So basically, like I said: who cares about these men who have lost any chance at a normal, productive life? No one, of course! Because clearly they were just all born bad and deserve to rot in prison, anyway.

No, I'm saying it's not an issue that just affects black men. More POC women suffer for every POC man that goes to prison.

Re: Interesting secret thread

(Anonymous) 2016-05-21 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
That's like saying the women are the real victims in a war when their male relatives get shot to pieces.

Re: Interesting secret thread

(Anonymous) 2016-05-21 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Women are the real victims of war. Rape of women is a weapon soldiers of both side constantly use in every war.
2. If 1 man gets shot, it's and many many more women who suffer.
3. Being a soldier is something men opt into. and when men are killed at war, their families are taken much better care of than when a man goes to prison.

So the draft is never a thing that existed? Child soldiers are a myth? Come on

Re: Interesting secret thread

(Anonymous) 2016-05-22 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
It's not something that exists anymore. And anywhere where child soldiers exist, either girls are just as likely to be used, or they will be raped.

If I had a choice I'd rather someone gave me a gun and told me to kill the guys on the other side than being raped.

It has existed in the past and there is no guarantee it won't exist in the future. Though maybe if we've progressed enough it will be an equal opportunity draft...not that that would be much better, since I'm not a fan of drafts at all.

Where are girls used as child soldiers? I've never heard of this. And come on, nobody is saying women aren't raped in war - it's one of the most disgusting things about war and that's saying something - but that doesn't change the fact that being made a child soldier is kind of a terrible thing??? like SERIOUSLY terrible? I don't know if I can honestly say I'd find it preferable to rape. Child soldiers are torn from their homes, treated terribly, often purposefully addicted to drugs to keep them dependent on the army, forced to kill other people (I can honestly hardly imagine something worse from a psychological standpoint, to me) as well as being injured or killed themselves - again, against their will, it is like a draft but so much worse because instead of going to jail they can just be beaten/killed/have their families threatened for refusing, and they are CHILDREN.

Can we just agree that most of the time nobody gets great things out of a war except maybe big corporations??

For women, even when they're "protected" they still have the fallout to deal with. (I.e. protected as being not in a war zone, a civilian casualty, or raped, etc.). That can be anything from starving to death, losing loved ones, to having the good outcome of a returned family member or loved one who's dealing with disability, PTSD, etc.

It's not easy for men, clearly, but I can never understand the desire of people to minimize the fact that war affects everyone...

To be honest, I pretty much agree with this. I hate both the argument that "men are the REAL and ONLY victims of war and therefore men are actually victimized in society because clearly that means misogyny doesn't exist", and the argument that "men being killed and forced to fight against their will in war means NOTHING and is obviously NOT a men's issue because women suffer so much more and therefore men's suffering is meaningless". They're both really stupid, and you make an excellent point: in war, nobody wins except the corporations who benefit from the financial costs, and in some situations the government and wealthier/more privileged citizens of the victorious nation. It pretty much sucks for everyone else. Even those who are not anywhere near the actual fighting and who don't have loved ones in the fight can be impacted economically and psychologically.

Don't even bother with people like the anon you replied to. Any time a member of a "privileged" group faces some difficulty in greater numbers than their non-privilege counterpart groups, that difficulty will have to be twisted to where it's either not a social justice issue or it's the groups' own fault (see: Toxic masculinity, for instance. Can't call it sexism, which accurately describes it--we need a way to make men's suffering their own fault!).

And the only people I've seen care a lot about prisoner rights' issues is some lower-class people and black people. And there aren't a lot of people from either group here. (Oh the irony).

Toxic masculinity doesn't just affect men, though...
