Mulan's beauty/feminine sexuality moment on the other hand... is a huge goddamn disaster which starts with her being late and ends with her disgracing her family. It only gets less sexualized from there, since "boy" Mulan gets pretty heavily masculinized and stuck in a tunic or armour (i.e. drawn with much smaller eyes, minimized curves, smaller lips). You could go so far as to say that Mulan, at least visually, gets de-sexualized for the majority of the movie.
Not to say that the character motivations aren't important, but since it's a film I'd say the ways in which both characters are presented are just about as important as their personalities.

There are tons of essays and blog posts and whatnot calling Disney out for the way it portrays a feminine aesthetic and how the Disney Princess contributes to body image disorders and supposedly premature sexualisation in young girls. This is also a thing that has been around since the 90's so it's not exactly a new concept.
