I hate to be that guy, but your parents are probably right. Most offices are available for questions, can you call your psychiatrist and ask if they'd like you to take your medication until you have your appointment? All I know is that I've had to quit medicines cold turkey before, and its not pleasant and can trigger some nasty moodswings.

I don't actually have one right now. Moved and switched insurances. I've gotten a list of in-network ones, so we're going to call.

I know they were probably right, just not sure what to do now.

If you can catch someone while they're in office, they may be able to offer you some better advice. If you do come off of it, I'd personally do it gradually (Obligatory not a doctor disclaimer) just because I know from experience how awful it is to just drop a pill.
