(Anonymous) 2016-05-24 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)The thing is, most SPN fans haven't watched the entire series 400 times and most SPN fans probably don't know every single minor character's name. That's when an interest becomes nerdy/fandomy.
(I'm not into SPN, but am the equivalent with other fandoms. Like Harry Potter - a lot of people love Harry Potter, but I know my House, I've re-read the series dozens of times, and I've written way too much fanfic. That's when it becomes nerdy.)

I mean, yeah, sports nerds are totally a thing imo, but the mainstream perception of "nerdiness" is not there.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-24 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)There are some people that casually like it, but it's almost never my experience with the people in fandom. (Same with Doctor Who.) I've had fans of both fandoms full-on yell at me, in person, for just politely expressing that I didn't like either show. Not even a "scary as hell" like I just used, but a "It's not my kind of thing."
I don't even really experience this kind of shit with other mega-fandoms, like Harry Potter or Game of Thrones.

(Yes, we teased him about this. We were the nerdy one of the family. We had been awaiting this opportunity for EVER.)
...man, OP, I'm just saying, if you're being like my brother, I feel utmost pity for you.
...you're not my brother are you? I thought you left the Internet, bro.
