A fandom artist is setting up a Patreon to fund her unreleased book. Like, it's not a self-published book she's asking people to buy, she hasn't written any of it yet beyond an outline. She also has none of her writing up anywhere in public so there's no way for any prospective backers to tell if her writing's any good.

I know I'm being ridiculously petty but it pisses me the fuck off that she's asking for money for this.

Whenever I see someone trying to get donations for something stupid, I always think of the time someone on tumblr made a post complaining that more people weren't donating to her dumb cause because she felt she deserved their money, and another person responded that they'd like to donate a cactus up her butt for being so entitled. Then I remember that people being ridiculous deserve me to laugh at them, not me to experience the slightest emotional inconvenience because of their ridiculousness. I guess my point is, try imagining telling her that you'd like to donate a cactus up her butt, then things will seem less rage-worthy.

It's not petty. I'm all for crowdfunding where it counts, but she hasn't even achieved this goal. For all anyone knows, she'll lose interest and move on to something else.

Enh, she might ask, but I doubt she'll make much, unless she has a solid following familiar with her writing already. (Says I, who sells writing by Patreon.) And if she doesn't put up good work, they'll likely leave pretty fast.
