I'm behind on my bills, I haven't been able to get a job, despite the number of applications I've sent out, and I can't really ask my parent's for money, because my brother got screwed out of financial aid, so my parent's have been paying out of pocket for that.

I'm debating opening an etsy shop to at least try and raise some money? But then I get worried that no one's going to be interested, and my brain just stalls, because I have an idea, and I have a gimmick, and my brain just stops.

I hate it.

Gotta second kallanda_lee, though, it might be worth trying the etsy shop anyway. People sell all sorts of stuff there that I'd never think anybody would bother buying (uh, not that I'm saying that what you're selling is like that!)

What's your Etsy idea?

You know those iron-together perler beads? I found miniature ones at my local art store, and I got some a while back to make some earrings for conventions. Due to their size, they do actually make pretty neat pixel art jewelry. With the creator of Undertale letting us know exactly what is/isn't cool to sell, I was thinking of starting with some Understale sprite jewelry/keychains, and branching out to other pixel pieces. I could make some really intricate pieces tbh, but the question is, would people pay for them?

If you have the time and the cost of materials isn't high, then go for it. Setting up an etsy shop isn't difficult once you figure out what you'll charge, etc. Do take the time to get acquainted with your postal rates and how much packaging will cost you. Probably not a lot if you're selling jewelry, which is good.

One key thing is TAKE GOOD PICTURES. You wouldn't believe how many people open up an etsy shop with crappy, blurred photos of their work. If you can take them in natural light, and come up with a cute backdrop. It doesn't have to be really fancy, just something that looks nice. Extra points if you can give it some geeky flair that relates to Undertale. Don't undercharge, and don't be afraid to branch out. It's .20 per listing for three months, well worth a gamble.

That's a pretty good cost. :O

May I ask if you'd count the above as a "good picture"? Aside from the carpet, I mean. It's a picture I took with my phone, and while I can change the backdrop/lighting/etc., I can't change my camera. :I

Also, would you pay $5.00 for those earrings (just out of curiosity)?

Are you going to do any fandoms other than Undertale? (I like Undertale, but I'm curious!)

I'm definitely going to do a Papyrus, though I hadn't thought of doing them as a pair (because earrings) but they could be a pair for keychains. :O

Undertale, anything pixel I can get my hands on, so Mario, maybe some Legend of Zelda, etc., some bug art, because I think people might go for that? Beetles and stuff (maybe based off of Animal Crossing?), and customs. At least, so far lol. I was looking at Game of Thrones stuff, but I need to see if that's possible to do and still be a decent size.

That and LoTR stuff? It's just finding the balance between cool, and "can be made out of perler beads".

I have an etsy shop. Do it. My bill is only like $5 a month, totally worth the time and effort. (And I sell cheapass little comics, so much smaller profit margin.)

I don't remember it being too hard. But keep in mind I do comics, so I didn't have to take photos. (All the pages were already scanned in.) Also oh man, make sure you don't forget shipping! It does matter, if you're doing objects large enough to need large envelopes or boxes.

I think, with the size that I'd be looking at, it'd mostly be envelopes (probably padded), so I don't think the shipping would cost that much? Knock on wood, lol.

You should of course double-check but I would not be surprised if you could mail those with a regular stamp - maybe two for the weight the padding will add. Those beads are pretty lightweight, aren't they?

Yeah, like, the big thing to be aware of is overseas stuff. I have a REALLY small book with a spine. (Like, it's a hundred pages exactly, so very thin, and slightly smaller than a piece of paper folded in half.) Shipping that stupid thing overseas costs me $12, because of custom forms and such. So mainly, DO NOT ALLOW free shipping overseas. You will cry SO HARD.
