Hollywood likes to cling to big names. If you have a black actress who recently won an Oscar, she's going to get the big roles for black actresses so they can put "Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong'o" on the posters.

Which is weird because studies have shown, IIRC, that star power doesn't actually sell tickets anymore, franchises do. So Hollywood could easily give unknown actors a chance more often and still make a ton of money, but for some reason they don't.
