Pet stuff
Re: Pet stuff
I freaked out and quickly gathered up the bits and pieces and tossed them (and her) in the car and rushed her to the vet. She was acting normally, all smiles at the ride, being a pest in the waiting room. They told us the roach traps likely weren't a problem except for maybe the plastic. While we were there she had a seizure; she'd been having seizures once every couple weeks for the last couple months (that we know of anyway.) So they took her in back and we waited. Then we met her in the examination room where she had another seizure.
They kept her overnight for observation; she had one more seizure Tuesday morning, and I'm not entirely certain she didn't have a fourth one when we met her in the examination room the next day. She was sleepy and dopey and lethargic Tuesday evening when we brought her home. Yesterday she seemed to be doing better.
Today? She's back to her old tricks again -- including that oh-so phony guilty look.
Little stinker wouldn't leave me alone during dinner either. She knows she's not gonna get anything from me, but that doesn't stop her :)
[ETA] She's on anti-convulsants now. They fairly specifically have to be given every 12 hours, so she's getting her pills early from now on. Hopefully these'll help her seizures. I feel so bad for my poor baby :(

She seems to be back to her old self though -- rotten as can be. <3

Re: Pet stuff
My old love of a cat passed last fall at 15. Later, we adopted 2 kittens rescued from some pretty terrible conditions- Boris the (mostly) Russian Blue and Natasha the Siamese mix. Not quite 5 months in, started having health problems and not thriving like her "brother." After an expensive diagnostic runaround (severe gingivitis? parasites?) we've concluded it's feline infectious peritonitis (dry form). Basically a mutation of the coronavirus that's gone to her nervous system.
It's so hard to realize that really all we can do for this baby 1-year old cat is keep her comfortable and content for as long as we can. With Chrestomanci, he was elderly and we knew the end was coming for a couple years. It just sucks. She's so hilarious, especially the way she doesn't meow, she makes tiny noises that sound like beeping!

And re: ants - I get the Terro ant traps. They work, and the best thing about them is, they're 100 percent non-toxic to animals. Basically sugar-syrup and borax. Again - the plastic might be an issue, but the ant stuff itself is never a problem.
Good luck!

(Anonymous) 2016-05-27 02:10 am (UTC)(link)Just heard from the vets. She made it. She's resting comfortably, and is expected to make a full recovery. I can pick her up tomorrow, and it will no longer hurt her to eat. Or to have a head.
So that's good.
