I think people who write/draw child porn need to be in jail. It being fictional doesn't make them any less sickening.

Do you feel the similar about people who draw/write noncon, guro, or like?

If it involves kids, yes, if not I'm likely to ignore it. And yes, I realize how silly that probably sounds.

You also saw that post someone made by digging up an obscure law from 2003 because they wanted to stick it to some bronies, huh?

What about people who write/draw torture, murder and such?

"It sickens me" is a pretty poor argument for something being made illegal.

I understand the knee-jerk reaction, but as others have said, there's lots of other things people write and draw that would be very, very bad if they did them in real life. But we can't round up everyone who writes or draws torture or non-con and send them to jail like they really did it, because nobody got hurt. And I'd much rather someone sit around and write that shit about children than hurt any real ones.

I've seen that shit with the girls getting set on fire and getting their heads chopped off and shit. If that's legal, porn of little kids should be treated the same way.

Actually, we have laws against that stuff here. Violence towards women is banned in pornographic media (But oddly not mundane media) in our country. Drawing kids being fucked is not. Which is odd now that I think about it.

Hey, three hots and a cot! Jail me, please!

Also, most of the writers of underage fiction I know were victims of child sexual abuse themselves and identify with the underage person, NOT the adult one. Like rape survivors, writing about the experience in a less-threatening (ie. fiction form) environment can help them deal with the trauma.

But please, throw them in jail, too! Throwing the baby out with the bathwater never ends badly. /sarcasm

I'm not singling you out here, just venting on what you're mentioning, because while that is absolutely a fine thing to do, I really hate that it's becoming requisite that you must be an abuse survivor in order to like "problematic" ships and porn. Like...a.) no, b.) good job hounding people to "prove" something that, if they've experienced, they might not feel like telling an asshole stranger on the internet, and c.) fucking no.

Frankly, I'd rather people who have those urges deal with them in a way that doesn't hurt anyone rather than looking at actual child porn or raping actual children. Not that I think most people who write/draw that stuff are pedophiles, but for the ones that are it is better than hurting real people.

Also, most people who read/write that stuff are victims who are looking for an outlet or people who have no connection to RL stuff at all and for whom it is just a kink (often tied to interests in BDSM stuff where the child stuff is a more extreme version of that).

2007: Right-wing nutjob Christians force LJ to suspend over 500 journals and communities for underage fic and art.

2016: Presumed leftist advocates jail for the same thing.

How times have changed.

I think you're sickening so you should be in jail.

If you really believe your own logic is correct, you should definitely turn yourself in right now.

I think you should be required to refer to the act of writing/drawing child porn as "thoughtcrime" so it's obvious how much credence people should grant your ideas.

ah yes, let's start convicting young adult authors who write about teenagers having sex first

Sickening, maybe, but sickening stuff isn't the definition for something being illegal. Preventing or punishing someone who causes harm to someone else is generally the reason laws exist. Fiction stuff causes no harm ergo no punishment is needed.

I mean, if "This is sickening to me" became the standard to jailing someone, a LOT of people who do not deserve shit would be in prison. Some people are sickened by Interracial marriage. Some people are sickened by Homosexuality. Some people are sickened by heterosexuality. My Girlfriend is sickened by seeing people eat tinned tomatoes. Not all of those things are equal, sure (Tinned tomatoes are the fucking worst) but it does demonstrate why we need a standard higher than "Sickening" to jail someone.
