I'm amused by the idea of Pippin and Merry getting all excited by modern pranks.
Apart from obvious villains creating trouble (and Melkor, Sauron, and Saruman could all probably do a whole lot of horrible stuff with modern technology), Feanor would create all kinds of trouble.
I think Samwise would be the one most likely to make the world a better place. He'd just go around planting a bunch of gardens.
If We're talking fantasy to fantasy, how about Tolkien characters in ASOIAF? Lets see. Hobbits would have the hardest time adapting to all the violence. Elves would have trouble adapting to the rape, though the violence would be something they were used to (at least any that lived through the first and second ages).
Melkor would create all sorts of trouble. He'd take control of Dany's dragons or make deals with the white walkers.
I think Aragorn could do some good and also Fingolfin or Fingon. Basically powerful characters that are good at inspiring people. That sort of character might be able to make a difference in Westeros.
